Our digital x-ray technology greatly reduces the amount of radiation required in this process. Since the images are in a digital format, they are easily exchanged with healthcare providers and insurance companies making our office more efficient and your visit more rewarding. Digital x-rays are also faster, allowing us to service your needs in less time. Read Dr. Wilke's article on Dental X-rays.
This diagnostic tool uses laser light to identify hidden tooth decay well before it develops into a more serious issue. Making this assessment in advance reduces the size and number of restorations a patient might require.
Using an air-abrasion technique, this technology allows us to cleanse the tooth of dark grooves and shallow cavities. This procedure would have been performed with a conventional drill in the past but air-abrasion allows more of the healthy tooth to be preserved. Plus, you spend less time in the chair and enjoy a pain-free process. Many times this technology is used without anesthetic.
Dr. Wilke was the first dentist in San Antonio to adopt this technology for the treatment of gum disease. This patented procedure is termed Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP) or simply Laser Periodontal Therapy. Without scalpels, gum disease is removed with laser light and then the gumline is treated so that the disease cannot easily return. In fact, our procedure was featured on a news segment aired on a local San Antonio television station. Watch the video to learn more about this process.
