CONSCIOUS SEDATION PATIENT INSTRUCTIONS
Available to Anyone that Needs Help to Relax
To reduce the chances of nausea, do not eat any food or drink after Midnight the night before. If your appointment is in the afternoon, a VERY LIGHT breakfast (yogurt) is acceptable at least six hours before appointment. You may drink a small amount of clear liquid (such as water or apple juice) up to two hours before procedure if needed for medical reasons.
Unless specified by dentist, all medicines taken on a routine basis should be continued without interruption. Please swallow with a minimal amount of water if taken within 2 hours of your appointment.
A responsible adult, over 18 years of age, must accompany the patient to the office and remain here throughout the entire procedure. Following the appointment, this person must also escort the patient home and should remain with the patient for the rest of the day or until the patient is fully awake.
Please do not wear fingernail polish or at least not on one nail. We have a monitor that is placed on your finger and nail polish can interfere with it readings.
Following sedation appointment, patients should refrain from driving an automobile or engaging in any activity that requires alertness until the next day or until fully alert. Avoid alcoholic beverages until the next day.
