TECHNOLOGY

Leading-Edge Dentistry using State-of-the-Art Technology
Technology plays a key role in providing restorative and cosmetic services that look natural and have an unsurpassed durability. By adopting leading edge techniques, we are able to provide fast and efficient service to our patients with a minimum of risk and discomfort.
CEREC®

Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, or CEREC©, allows the restoration of damaged teeth with amazing technology and even more amazing results. Crowns, inlays, onlays, and veneers are applied to the teeth using metal-free biocompatible materials that are shade matched to your teeth. Using cad/cam technology to image your tooth eliminates the need for impressions, making your visit quick and enjoyable. In fact, most treatments can be completed in a single visit, usually in about an hour!

MICRO-PREP®

Using an air-abrasion technique, this technology allows us perform cavity prep to cleanse the tooth of dark grooves and shallow cavities. This procedure would have been performed with a conventional drill in the past but air-abrasion allows more of the healthy tooth to be preserved. Plus, you spend less time in the chair and enjoy a pain-free process. Many times this technology is used without anesthetic.

PERIOLASE®

Dr. Wilke was the first dentist in San Antonio to adopt this technology for the treatment of gum disease. This patented procedure is termed Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP) or simply Laser Periodontal Therapy. Without scalpels, gum disease is removed with laser light and then the gumline is treated so that the disease cannot easily return. Watch the video to learn more about this process, our procedure was featured on a local San Antonio television station.

“LANAP is to gum treatment as LASIK is to vision correction.” by Dr. Paul G. Wilke

FOTONA LIGHTWALKER ERBIUM: YAG LASER

The Fotona LightWalker Laser gives us the ability to do pain-free, anesthetic-free fillings, cavity preps, frenectomies, gingival recontouring, and crown lengthening with very litte bleeding and no stitching, as well as laser cosmetic services including LipLase℠, SmoothLase™, and NightLase™. DIGITAL X-RAYS
Our digital x-ray technology greatly reduces the amount of radiation required in this process. Since the images are in a digital format, they are easily exchanged with healthcare providers and insurance companies making our office more efficient and your visit more rewarding. Digital x-rays are also faster, allowing us to service your needs in less time. Read Dr. Wilke’s article on Dental X-rays.
I-CAT CBCT Cone Beam

We use a state of the art I-CAT CBCT Cone Beam 3 dimensional x-ray to find pathological conditions in our patient’s mouth and surrounding areas. We have been amazed at the ability of these images to show periapical periodontal abscesses that do not show up on traditional radiographs. We can also find areas of ischemic bone disease (Cavitation’s) in extraction sites, measure patients air ways to screen for obstructive sleep disorders, and see a 3 dimension image of nerves and roots.

We are able to provide more accurate dimensional views of the skull and jaws. In addition, while CBCT images also provide cross-sectional (bucco-lingual), axial, coronal, sagittal, panoramic and cephalometric views, there is no compromise between the image quality and how safe it is for our patients. There are many more clinical uses available, including dental implant planning, orthodontics, visualization of  impacted teeth, airway studies, spinal studies, TMJ analysis, and diagnosis of dental trauma.

This system is increasingly used across the United States since the early 2000’s and is able to meet the ALARA – As Low as Reasonably Achievable radiation protocols (Exposures as low as 4 µSv).

KAVO DEXIS CariVu™

New to our office January 2019 a new and easy way to diagnose caries detection.  This device uses patented transillumination technology.  With this device we are able to identify occlusal (top of the tooth) , interproximal (in-between), recurrent carious lesions and cracks.

The CariVu™ uses non-ionizing radiation which is ideal for children and pregnant women. Read the DEXIS CariVu Brochure for more information.

PAC LIGHT

The Pac Light is the most powerful composite curing light available. This insures a strong bond between restoration and tooth structure and maximizes polymerization of composite materials.
